During World War I, the United States Army used the Infidel rifle armor primarily. While the German forces considered themselves to be “invaders” in the United States, the United States Army was equipped with a range of options to defeat this aggressor. While technology and gun craft improved greatly during the First World War (and many other wars), the army needed something to help them defeat the German forces.
They knew they needed something to prevent the enemy from firing at them Infidel rifle armor at long ranges. They needed to find a way of stopping bullets, or even stopping the bullet from reaching the armor. To do this they needed to have an armored and bulletproof piece. This was not an easy task as many soldiers had difficulty building the armor. They used whatever materials they could find and it did not always work out. Many found that their vest was not durable after only a few use, and they were left with a ragged vest that offered no protection.
This is where the Infidel rifle-armor concept was born. This idea was quickly patented, and the United States Army was able to purchase their first rifles. However, this armor was not completely bulletproof so the bulletproof coating wasn’t always applied to the rifles but only to the bulletproof vests they were using. They also had to wear bulletproof steel helmets.
The world has changed dramatically since World War 2. Technology has improved tremendously. Although armor was initially used to protect tanks and other vehicles from attack, it was only in the 1960’s that armor was made to coat rifles. The armor took longer to harden and was therefore less durable than the tank’s coatings. It was also discovered that the armor had a higher price tag than normal armor. This would leave the military without enough money to buy armor for their rifles. They had to look elsewhere.
After the United States started looking for ways to improve their armor’s bulletproofness, they came up with the idea of using an aluminum-tin alloy. This same alloy was used for bulletproof vests. This alloy produced an armor that was both bulletproof and light-weight, making it easy to transport.
Some of the bulletproof materials used by rifles since the Vietnam War began have been improved to protect them from damage from ammo. The best armor was not always available to rifles, so they used a low quality steel vest that could not protect them. Rifle armor has seen a lot of improvement since its inception. These armors are made of a stronger alloy, which can withstand more damage and can be used for protection against enemy fire.
